Frequently Asked Questions

Take Action Camp is great for ages ranging from 9-18. Youth are divided into different age groups over the course of the camp. While rooming arrangements will be with campers of a similar age and most of their time will be spent with their age groups, participants will also get to mentor and learn from one another in a variety of camp-wide activities.

For those 14 and above, make sure you check out the Advanced Leadership Streams, programs geared toward older and returning campers.

We currently have two Take Action Camp locations.

Our Ontario location is at the ME to WE Leadership Center in Bethany, about 30 minutes outside of Peterborough and an hour and a half from Toronto. Our Arizona location is at the Windsong Peace and Leadership Center, a large ranch an hour and a half outside of Tucson.

For camp in Ontario, we provide driving directions to the ME to WE Leadership Center. We also offer a bus service at an additional cost. The bus to camp departs from Lester B Pearson International Airport, Toronto Union Station, Toronto Downtown Coach Canada Bus Terminal, and the ME to WE office.

For camp in Arizona, we provide driving directions to the Windsong Peace & Leadership Center. We also offer a bus service at an additional cost. The bus to camp departs from Tucson International Airport, Tucson Greyhound Station, and Tucson Amtrak Station.

Accommodations are dormitory style, 4 to 8 youth per room. There is a large dining hall and common space for youth to use throughout the week. Both locations provide a ton of outdoor space, perfect for games, activities and campfires.

Take Action Camp in Ontario is $900 + tax and includes all of your accommodation, organic homemade meals, activities and day trips.

Take Action Camp in Arizona is US $750 and includes all of your accommodation, organic homemade meals, activities and day trips.

If you’re interested in fundraising for all or a portion of your camp cost (many of our participants do!), then take a look at some of the resources we have available. We also love to support you with your fundraising plans, so give us a call and we can help you get started.

Each day at Take Action Camp is a little bit different, but the overarching themes are social justice and leadership. Every day is unique, with a variety of special activities. Some examples include:

  • Take Action Day, where you’ll able to do some hands-on volunteer work
  • Global Day, where you explore social issues all around the world
  • Action Planning Day, where we’ll help you create a plan of action to bring positive change into your own community when you return home
  • In between activities and meals, there will be lots of time for sports, music, group games and team builders, as well as a little bit of time to just relax and enjoy your time at Take Action Camp!

Yes, we will do our best to accommodate a request to room with a friend; however we ask that campers keep an open mind and are ready to meet new people. There are approximately 4-8 campers per room. This request can be made on the camper’s online application.

There will not be an option to do laundry while at camp. Please note we do have laundry facilities on site that can be used only if absolutely necessary.

Yes, campers will generally be placed in a room and activity group within their own age range. One of the special things about Take Action Camp is that campers of all ages get to spend time together during meals, camp-wide activities and special programs to mentor and learn from each other.

ME to WE recommends that you leave all valuables and electronics at home to ensure that they are not lost or stolen while at camp. The days are full of activity and there won’t be time or a use for laptops or cellphones. We strongly encourage campers to focus on the experience at camp and their immediate surroundings, rather than being distracted by things happening at home. In our experience we have found that disconnecting from the Internet, cell phones, and iPods enhances campers’ experiences and ability to build connections within their surroundings.
