Celebrating Change and Launching into 2015!

m2wfeatureIt was a busy summer for ME to WE! Thousands of people from around the world came together to create lasting change in Free The Children communities overseas on ME to WE Trips, and to strengthen their local communities through the skills they learned at Take Action Camp. We were overjoyed to celebrate these amazing changemakers our ME to WE 2015 launch event this past weekend.

Hundreds of people filled the seats at a Toronto Cineplex theatre for our reunion, where we also gave a sneak peek at the incredible year to come. It was amazing to see friends from all over the country reconnecting! Past trip participant Hayden Siltberg even flew all the way from British Columbia to Toronto to see the friends that he had met while volunteering in Kenya. Wow!

Our favourite part of the day was definitely when we heard youth talking about how they were bringing their action plans to life. Several participants shared their action plans with the room—some have even started their own organizations, and websites to promote the cause they’re passionate about. It was inspiring to hear how they’ve been empowered by ME to WE to create change!

The theatre was full of energy and passion throughout the morning, but really peaked when Marc Kielburger, and ME to WE’s Chief Operations Director Russ McLeod, thanked the youth and their parents for living ME to WE, and encouraged them to keep taking action locally and globally. Finally, the celebration came to a close with an awesome performance from WE Day favourites, Neverest. The crowd was on their feet dancing, singing, and hugging.

The ME to WE 2015 launch event was so inspiring and we can’t wait to see how you’ll keep living ME to WE in the year to come!
