Wanderlust treasures to keep cozy

Fond memories of trips past resurface often during these frigid winter months. It’s easy to think about our amazing adventure abroad, the incredible new people we met and how great it felt to be part of something so much bigger than ourselves—especially when the climates we visited were so sunny and warm! We’ve flipped through our photo albums countless times, but there’s something to be said about having a real piece of our journey. The following items are a list of favourite things we’ve collected on our trips that not only continue to inspire us every day, but keep us extra warm and cozy at this time of year.

1. Maasai warrior shuka from Kenya

Wrapping up in this beautifully coloured shuka instantly brightens our spirits. Worn by Maasai warriors, it’s a traditional piece of fabric that’s draped around the body in a variety of different ways, depending on the wearer’s style. We love using it as a blanket!

2. Chai tea and scarf from India

Nothing compares to the spices and sweet aroma of this hot drink! We sipped it a lot on our visit to India with milk and sugar. This fuchsia printed scarf, also from India, adds a punch of colour and locks in that warm glowy feeling from the chai.

2. Poncho from Ecuador

Whether hanging around the house or stepping out, this poncho from Ecuador adds another layer of warmth. Stylistically, we love them for their vibrant colour, but they’re also super practical! Ponchos have been worn by South Americans for generations because of its ability to keep the wearer warm and dry from the frequent rains.

4. Alpaca toque from Ecuador

We became a little obsessed with alpacas in Ecuador—they’re so cute and fluffy! This toque is knitted from wool that’s been shaved off alpacas, just like a sheep’s coat. It’s perfect for windy days.

5. Mocs with Meaning from Kenya

Minnetonka Moccasins teamed up with us to create these leather mocs, perfect to wear inside during the winter and outside in warmer weather. Each one features a beautifully beaded design, handmade by mamas in Kenya. They keep our feet extra toasty and we love wearing them with skinny jeans!
