ME to WE is seeking a Design Assistant to join the Product Development team to support the creation of ME to WE Artisan products and support on marketing initiatives. The Design Assistant’s main responsibilities will be to create all technical design sheets for new Artisan products and inputs and liaise with in-country teams and manufacturers to ensure timely delivery of artisan samples.  
 
This individual must be passionate and committed to the core beliefs of the organization—the WE.org Philosophy.   The position is based out of WE’s office in Toronto.  

Your Impacts: 
 
Product Design & Development (60%)
  • Create Technical Design sheets for Artisan products and liaise with artisan partners in Kenya and Ecuador
  • Create technical Design sheets for jewelry inputs and liaise with vendors
  • Conduct research on relevant trends to support the design process
  • Assist with preparations and follow up to product design trips
  • Cataloguing and organizing all product prototypes & samples
  • Ensure the master copy and product details of the product assortment is up to date for all Artisan products
  • Key liaison with Kenya to ensure that deliveries of samples are within agreed timelines
  • Maintain vendor input catalogue
  • Create Bill of Materials for all Artisan Products
Marketing (40%) 
  • Coordinate Artisan Samples for seasonal line sheet and look books
  • Product specialist to support Marketing team for lifestyle photoshoots for Artisan marketing collateral
  • Manage flat-lay photography of all product, coordinating internal and external photographers (Marketing)
  • Reviewing seasonal line sheets / look books for product spec accuracy
  • Approval of accuracy and quality (with support of the Design Director) of all product descriptions, photos and specifications for online
  • Amalgamating marketing shot lists at bi-annual photo-shoots 
General Responsibilities:
  • Report to and consult with the Design Designer, ME to WE Artisans
  • Work alongside and support the Retail 360 team in tasks where necessary
  • Share vision, goals and drive activities to reach department and organizational goals
  • Finding personal satisfaction in activities and responsibilities available in the job; enjoying the cycle of product development, project coordination, and embracing and cultivating the ME to WE culture
  • This position is responsible for other tasks as assigned
What you bring Skills and Key competencies:
  • Project management, fashion merchandising or marketing experience is required
  • Keen interest in jewelry design and products that are Handmade with Love  
  • Passion for learning  
  • Strong understanding of industry trends across various product categories
  • Familiarity and passion for artisanal techniques
  • Very strong written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills, maturity and professionalism with proven ability to drive projects forward
  • Friendly, outgoing self-starter  
  • Powerful work ethic, both as a team member and independently
  • Capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and plan ahead
  • Positive and a ‘get-it-done’ attitude
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite and Autocad, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management and online research
  • Knowledge of product design process
  • Ability to work with Creative Cloud is an asset
