| In 2009, Julia Rogers joined the Me to We team as a motivational speaker. Julia first became involved with Free The Children and Me to We on a volunteer and leadership trip to Kenya in 2007. While there, she spent her days building a school and planting trees alongside community members. She also taught English, social studies and math to young students in the community of Oloonkerin. The following summer, Julia travelled to Ecuador with Me to We and attended the Toronto Take Action! Academy. These experiences propelled her to organize Me to We Day Saint John, a community event highlighting the importance of we thinking and we acting. In the spring of 2009, Julia had the opportunity to travel to India with Free The Children and Directors of Change to film a documentary entitled, Growing Up in India. The experience solidified her interest in journalism and she is now determined to dedicate her life to raising awareness through documentary filmmaking. Julia lives by the words of Jean Vanier: “Let us simply stop and start listening to our own hearts.” BOOK THE SOLOIST SPEAKING TOUR

Jon Patton was first introduced to Me to We and Free The Children while on a volunteer trip to Kenya in 2006, where he helped to build a school for children without access to education. Now an articulate and enthusiastic speaker for Me to We, Jonathan rouses audiences with unwavering energy and passion for global issues. After taking his first trip abroad at the age of 13, Jon‘s insatiable curiosity about the world and its people has taken him to over 35 countries. His diverse international volunteer experience includes a summer volunteering for an after-school program for disadvantaged children in Quito, Ecuador. Upon graduating from Carleton University, Jonathan spent two years with SOS Children’s Villages International, first in the Kibera slums of Nairobi, Kenya and then in Arusha, Tanzania. He then travelled through Egypt and Ethiopia and down to South Africa, where he volunteered on a wildlife conservation and environmental rehabilitation project. An outdoor enthusiast always searching for a new challenge, Jonathan spends most mornings hitting the pavement on a run, as he’s currently training for a half-marathon. When not at work, Jonathan is often busy enjoying the outdoors, camping, biking, hiking or just reading in the park. |
