Canadian Living Me to We Awards

Honouring extraordinary Canadians building a better world

Every day ordinary Canadians are making extraordinary impacts in our world—from spearheading fundraising campaigns to founding their own social justice organizations. They are raising awareness of issues they’re passionate about, being a voice for the voiceless and spreading incredible change within their communities and even across the globe. In 2005, brothers and Me to We co-founders Craig and Marc Kielburger teamed up with Canadian Living magazine to celebrate these true heroes by creating the first ever Canadian Living Me to We Awards.

The awards are divided into six unique categories: Youth in Action (13-17), Youth in Action (12 and under), In the Community, Social Action, Educator and Free The Children Youth. Prizes for the first five categories includes a $1,000 (CAD) donation to a registered Canadian charity of the winner’s choice, a commemorative award, coverage in an issue of Canadian Living magazine and coverage on The winner of the Free The Children Youth category will win a Me to We Trip! Canadian Living is the most widely read women’s magazine in the country, with a readership of 4.5 million. Led by Multiplatform Editorial Director Sandra E. Martin, the Canadian Living brand—on all of its platforms, including its award-winning website with mobile and tablet compatibility, weekly newsletters and print publication—offers inspiration and relevant information about family and community, health and wellness, food and nutrition, fashion, beauty, interior design and gardening.

Canadian Living readers are active, involved, connected with their families, neighbourhoods and their communities.  The Canadian Living audience is  very social, upbeat and wholeheartedly embraces volunteerism. These enthusiastic Canadians want to achieve great things for their families, their communities and, ultimately, their country.

Canadian Living gives them the tools, the ideas and the inspiration to make a difference every day. The Canadian Living Me to We Awards enables the magazine to share and celebrate everyday heroes who are making a difference while living the Me to We philosophy.

Me to We is a philosophy, a manifesto and a movement. It’s about finding purpose by living with compassion, strengthening community and making a commitment to our shared humanity. Simply put, it’s thinking we instead of me.

As  an innovative social enterprise, Me to We  provides people with better choices for a better world. Through socially conscious and environmentally friendly products and life-changing experiences, Me to We measures the bottom line, not by dollars earned, but by the number of lives we change and the positive social and environmental impact we make. In addition, half of Me to We’s net profit is donated to Free The Children and the other half is reinvested to grow the enterprise.
