Take Action Program
BUILDING LEADERS RIGHT IN YOUR SCHOOL
WHAT IS THE TAKE ACTION PROGRAM?
This innovative school board program focuses on community involvement, and local and global citizenship at the most hands-on level–getting kids volunteering so they can not only understand the issues of our world, but they can see and feel the difference they're making to put a stop to them.
Using our custom Take Action Curriculum, the Take Action Program brings individually tailored training to over 200 schools in 12 school boards across North America each and every year.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Take Action works through a three-day workshop model, wherein workshops are scheduled throughout the school year–in the fall, winter and spring. Participating schools are brought together in clusters of no more than three neighbouring schools. Our expert facilitators engage students through a number of hands-on activities designed to promote awareness, team bonding and leadership skills.
Students then put the knowledge and empowerment they've gained at the workshops into action–by getting out into their communities and volunteering for local and international organizations in need.
WHO CAN GET INVOLVED?
The program is available to elementary and secondary schools across Canada, and can be tailored to fit the needs of any school and complement existing service learning curricula. Most often, the Take Action Program is implemented at the school board level, but we welcome individual educators to take part, and have an adapted model especially for them.
