Aboriginal Leadership

Sacred Circle: Empowering A Generation of Young Aboriginal Leaders

Our programming for Aboriginal youth, the Sacred Circle, first took root in British Columbia, where a strong and vibrant Aboriginal population exists. There, working in consultation with educators within the Department of Aboriginal Education at Nanaimo Ladysmith School District, the Me to We team created this first-of-its-kind leadership program, designed specifically to meet the needs of Aboriginal youth. The youth we've worked with have excelled within the program and the model is now available for youth across North America.

  • Workshops are a collaborative effort between teachers committed to Aboriginal education, community members and the Me to We team.
  • Centred on the Seven Teachings (honesty, humility, truth, wisdom, love, respect and bravery) and the Medicine Wheel.
  • Experienced Me to We facilitators work with one to two key Aboriginal youth leaders (aged 18 to 25) and train them to harness their stories as facilitators, be knowledgeable about leadership skills, and support participants during and after the program.
  • Curriculum and workshops designed for Aboriginal youth and customized to meet the needs and vision of each community. For more information on the focus of this program, please read our Me to We Leadership: Sacred Circle one-pager, which outlines a couple of options available.
